Karyn Smith, CPA, CFP is an esteemed educator at both Illinois State University and Olivet College. A graduate of Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, she spent many years in the accounting industry before crossing over to teaching and now has over ten years as an instructor of both Financial and Managerial Accounting. Karyn also has experience working in insurance, retirement housing, and as a treasurer on Frank McCloskey’s 1982 campaign for Congress.
Advocating to ensure accessible programs and services designed for those with special needs has been a personal focus for Karyn. She, her husband, and her daughter are actively involved with the Special Olympics here in Normal, both sharing a deep connection to its purpose. When she’s not in the classroom or spending time with her family, you might find Karyn lost in a thrilling mystery novel or out walking her dog.
