Garbage & Recycling

The Town of Normal operates automated wheeled garbage cart programs for collecting garbage and recycling.

To have your trash and recycling collected, you must utilize a Town-issued cart. Purchase a new cart using the the Town of Normal online payment option.

  • Place carts curbside no later than 6 a.m. on your collection day and no sooner than 6 p.m. on the evening before collection.
  • Learn more about the collection days and services for your address at the My Public Services Interactive website.
  • Return carts to your garage or behind the front line of your house within 12 hours of collection. If you live on a corner lot, carts should not be store on the outside corner of the house without proper screening.

If you have questions about the Town’s automated waste collection system please contact Public Works between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. at 309-454-9571.

Missed Collection

If trash was not collected by 3 p.m. on your scheduled day, check for an orange notice on your materials or for a door hanger on your front door. You may also contact the Public Works department after 2 p.m. on your regular collection day or complete an online Missed Collection Form.
