Doug Damery- Parks and Recreation

Doug Damery has served as director of Parks and Recreation for the Town of Normal since 2016. In this role, Damery leads teams in property/facility development, diversified recreational programming and maintenance of parks-related property and equipment.

He oversees operations and maintenance of two outdoor aquatic facilities, the Community Activity Center, Ironwood Golf Course, and numerous amenities, including Uptown Normal, 19 parks, 17 playgrounds, Champion Fields, about 15 miles of Constitution Trail and various Town Municipal Properties.

Prior to joining the Town of Normal, Damery served as the executive director of the Washington Park District from 2003 to 2016. He also previously worked as superintendent of Recreation /Operations for the Itasca Park District. 

Damery holds a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.  

Damery is a Certified Park and Recreation Professional through the National Recreation and Park Association. Currently, he serves as past chair of the Illinois Park & Recreation Association. He is a member of the Illinois Association of Park Districts.
