In December 1987, the Normal Town Council, in
conjunction with Snyder Development Company, annexed 560 acres of land to be
developed into an 18-hole golf course and subdivision. The project was funded
by a $2.8 million bond issue and the sale of Hayden Park (172 acres) that was purchased in 1971 and was zoned for
Town of Normal Parks & Recreation added educational signs about monarch butterflies and a photo-worthy set of butterfly wings to Underwood Park in addition to new birdhouses designed to attract birds to the
